Abstract :
Nearly three years ago, the leadership of the IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS) Metals Industry Committee created an opportunity to bring out this special issue of arc-flash hazards in electric power systems. Committee Chair Tom Dionese and Technical Meeting Program Coordinator Doug Cromey felt that the redesigned format of the IAS AnnualMeeting launched in 2009 in Houston provided an incentive to do something different. They saw that the Annual Meeting could accommodate an expanded technical program with a special focus filled with invited speakers.
