Abstract
Utility and energy enterprises are capital intensive businesses that historically have operated in regulated markets with vertically integrated business models. Deregulation and technology advances are driving industry transformation and a new vision of the digital utility, which is able to gain business advantage. In this paper, the author describes how foundation technologies and supporting infrastructure can take energy enterprises to the next level through better integration with partners, improved connection with customers and tremendous employee empowerment.
