Abstract :
This article summarizes a presentation given at the 2002 IEEE PES Summer Meeting Student-Faculty-Industry Luncheon. Richard MacKellar is CEO of NxtPhase Corporation, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The author argues that advances in the electric power industry are every bit as exciting as telecom or Internet breakthroughs that will significantly affect the world in the future, and should be attractive to engineering students as prospective employees in the power industry.
