Abstract :
A wideband wavelength converter is presented which is based on a cascaded second-order nonlinearity in periodically-poled LiNbO3 waveguides pumped at 1.5 μm. The converter uses counter-propagating beams in order to improve conversion efficiency and pump rejection. An internal conversion efficiency of -10 dB and a conversion bandwidth of 68 nm have been obtained in a 4 cm long device
