Abstract
With the transition to digital television (DTV) receding quickly in the rear view mirror, the various industries encompassed by "broadcasting" are looking toward what\´s next. Not just looking, actually; they are doing something about it. The Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) has launched a number of initiatives intended to move the broadcast industry into a new era of service to consumers.
