Abstract :
The first report of 20 Gbit/s-based transpacific terabit wavelength division multiplexed transmission is presented. 56 × 21.4 Gbit/s (1.12 Tbit/s) return-to-zero signals have been transmitted over 9170 km using 23 nm C-band erbium-doped fibre amplifier repeaters and symmetrically dispersion-managed fibre span
