Abstract :
A novel multichannel slot reservation protocol is introduced for application on an optical fibre local area network (LAN) employing wavelength division multiplexing (WDM). The multichannel protocol is shown to demonstrate considerable performance advantages, when compared to the single channel protocol, particularly under asymmetric traffic loading.
