Abstract :
A direct heating fusing roll with heating elements on the outer circumference of a pipe has been developed as a new fusing method for electrophotography. Compared with the conventional lamp-type fusing unit, the new fusing unit significantly reduces the warm-up time and power consumption. Using electroless Ni-P resistors provides uniform distribution of roll surface temperature and high reliability. The structure and performance of the new fusing roll and the adaptability of electroless Ni-P resistors are described
