Abstract
This paper proposes a new block effect reduction technique based on the notion that the block effect is caused by loss of transform coefficients in the quantization process or during the transmission. The proposed algorithm is called content-based AC prediction for an MPEG-2 compressed video. In the proposed algorithm, the DC sequence is generated for considering the image content while AC coefficients are predicted. Then AC coefficients are predicted with respect to the image content. The simulation result shows that the proposed algorithm can be used in any DCT-based compressed video such as MPEG-1, MPEG-2, H.261, and H.263
