This is the story of Klaas Dijkstra (1894-1976) and the contents of his book entitled Radio Malabar which describes the technical evolution and daily life at a radio station on the isle of Java, Indonesia. The manuscript was a handwritten diary covering 1914-1945 and was discovered and published in 2000, long after the author´s death, during the dismantling of the early National Netherlands Shortwave Transmitting Station known as Kootwijk Radio.
