Signal Processing Trends in Media, Mobility, and Search [From the Editors]

Welcome to our special issue on mobile media search! Multimedia information is rapidly proliferating in data and storage networks such as the Internet. A tremendous volume of media, mostly nontagged, is acquired and stored in large data repositories. We use the term multimedia here to refer to the collection of one or more types of media including text, speech, images, graphics, video, and their various combinations.
