Abstract
Photovoltaic energy has been playing a key role among the renewable energy sources of the future. Converting this energy which is trapped into a low voltage battery, to a higher voltage for appropriate use, in an area of present day research. A single phase boost inverter operating on four switches has been presented in this paper. The use of interleaved boost structure and unipolar SPWM switching of the high side IGBTs has maintained the dc bus voltage to almost constant value. The stepping up of the output voltage is achieved by the use of switched coupled inductor only at the input side. The use of digital signal controller IC dsPIC30f4011 has made the control circuit much more simple, robust and less expensive. Key waveforms of the MATLAB simulations support the expected performance of the system. Hardware experimental results are provided at the end to test the suitability of the system.
