Abstract :
The authors investigate nuisance tripping of adjustable-speed drives caused by capacitor switching on the utility distribution system. The authors discuss the basic phenomena and then present the results of sensitivity analysis simulations performed to explore the various parameters which can affect the problem. The important parameters include the source strength at the switched capacitor, the switched capacitor bank size, the customer step down transformer size, the drive characteristics, and system loading
