Abstract :
The IEEE Working Group on Statistics of Line Outages under the General Systems Subcommittee of the Power Engineering Society has completed a survey of transmission line design and outage data. The authors present the design or characteristic data portion of the survey. A discussion of the historical background and the survey procedure is presented. In addition the authors summarize the participation in the survey and provide statistics on the data population and line design characteristics
