Abstract
The spectral domain formulation of mode-locking for integrated lasers has been applied to passive mode locking. It has now been extended to the analysis of active, hybrid and subharmonic mode-locked lasers with external electrical and optical modulation. The spectral domain approach is numerically more efficient to compute the stationary solution than the time domain approach. It can also be used when extensive parametric analysis of new devices is needed. The numerical results for the pulse characteristics, including chirp and jitter, have been compared with experimental data and, more extensively, with the numerical results obtained with a time domain simulator
