Abstract :
This work discusses the design and implementation of a fibre based, low cost communication system for transmission of uncompressed digitised 10 bit video and ancillary signals. The paper details a newly devised multiplexing scheme with a special frame format. The frame developed allows expandability for the multichannel transmission of audio-video signals multiplexed with other types of data. The system can be easily reconfigured to operate with different video and audio sampling frequencies so as to produce serial bit rates suitable for various applications. Test results show the efficacy of the transfer mechanism developed for the multiplexing and transmission of high quality signals
