Abstract :
This paper discusses some of the computational modeling techniques and analysis carried out to design a tunnel ventilation fan plant for the New York City Subway in order to improve the safety level in the system. The decision making process is discussed. Illustrations showing results and analysis outcomes using the subway environment simulation (SES) computer program and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) are presented.
