Abstract :
This paper presents the design and simulation of a novel magnetic-geared outer-rotor permanent magnet (PM) brushless motor for direct drive with low speed. The proposed motor artfully integrates the magnetic gear and PM brushless machine. It can reduce the normal electric synchronous speed to a low operation speed and the motor can be controlled conveniently. A 136 rpm 5 Nm prototype is successfully designed and analyzed. Its performance is verified with finite element method (FEM).
