Abstract
The hysteretic controlled converter is well known to be one of the most appropriate solutions for powering microprocessors because of its fastest load transient response. But the DC regulation accuracy performance of this kind of converter is still unknown. In this paper, the accuracy of multiple-phase hysteretic current-mode DC-DC converters for power microprocessors is thoroughly analyzed. The inaccuracy issue is pointed out and the root cause is identified. In addition, the analysis shows how the operation parameters, the phase number, the components´ value, and the parasitic parameters affect this regulation inaccuracy. Finally the experimental results show the effectiveness of this accuracy analysis.
