Excitation of the high Q-factor whispering-gallery modes in the hemiball shielded dielectric resonator by the ???slot-line???

Using of the “slot-line” for excitation of high Q-factor whispering gallery modes in shielded hemiball dielectric resonator in 8-mm wave band is proposed. This excitation method is effective and allows exciting the high order modes without additional energy losses. It is proved experimentally that obtained values of Q-factor are more than the “barrier” values that are limited by dissipative losses in a dielectric.
