Abstract
Summary form only given. Antiferromagnetically coupled (AFC) media are used for 100 Gb/in/sup 2/ recording. The AFC media are expected to have greater thermal stability and a higher signal-to-noise ratio. But, these advantages are closely related to the magnetic characteristics of the lower layer. Here, we report the relation between the magnetic characteristics of the lower layer and thermal stability or read-write performance using the Monte-Carlo method and Langevin equation.
