Abstract :
This paper studies DFIG power generation characteristics as well as how the control of a DFIG should match the requirement of those characteristics through a computer simulation approach. The paper develops a DFIG steady-state model in d-q reference frame and uses a numerical iteration technique to obtain steady-state characteristics under general d-q control conditions in the stator flux oriented frame. An integrative study is presented for concurrent inspection of multiple DFIG operating data. Transient simulation using SimPowerSystem is developed to validate the effectiveness of steady-state results in a more realistic virtual laboratory environment. Extensive simulation study is performed to explore DFIG characteristics and control integration properties under general d-q control strategies.
