Abstract
Current aircraft power quality specifications do not allow regeneration onto the power bus. Therefore, the inherent regeneration available from matrix converter is not desirable in aerospace application. In this paper, a simple method to avoid regeneration from matrix converters is proposed. The method has been called the input power clamp (IPC) method. The IPC method is an alternative to the bi-directional switch (BDS) method and has a number of advantages which will be discussed in the paper.
