Abstract :
In active noise and vibration control, physical phenomena of the medium involved and oversampling can necessitate optimizing the midfrequency (in-band) behavior of transfer elements by allowing arbitrary behavior at low and high frequencies. For FIR (finite impulse response) filters, a globally convergent algorithm is that provides the optimal solution under gain constraints at out-of-band frequencies is given. This is necessary to obtain dynamically realizable frequency responses and allow application in practical environments. The method is illustrated by analytical and practical examples
