Abstract :
In this paper, newly-proposed high efficiency DC-DC high power converter a high frequency planar transformer link is presented for high performance arc welder in industry. This circuit is composed of soft switching PWM high frequency inverter with DC busline side switching active edge resonant cells (AERC) including parallel capacitive lossless snubbers and leakage inductive component of high frequency planar transformer. All the active switches in the bridge arms and DC buslines can achieve ZCS at turn-on switching transition and ZVS at turn-off switching transition. The FRDs in the center- tapped secondary winding can perform ZCS commutation because of overlapping current operation. Its operating principle and experimental results are discussed from a practical point of view.
