  • Abstract
Summary form only given. Electrodeposited Fe-Co-Ni alloys are a promising candidate for the writer in ultra-high density magnetic recording systems. The deposition of thin film layers always introduces internal stresses. For magnetic thin film heads, the interaction between the magnetostriction and residual stress /spl sigma/ has significant effects on the domain configuration, frequency response and ultimately head performance. Data on internal stresses, magnetomechanical coupling and mechanical properties of electrodeposited Fe-Co-Ni alloys have not been reported to date. Here we present a study of the mechanical properties of electrodeposited Fe-Co-Ni alloys.
