Abstract
An augmented buck converter that adds direct conduction paths to the load is both modeled and tested with hardware. The solution has advantages over filtering and passive clamps in that paths need carry power only during disturbances and can operate at different output voltages. The method´s effectiveness depends on indentifying load changes, and beginning of transients. An augmented converter, with sufficient load knowledge, can completely eliminate transients. The paper investigates various levels of load knowledge and how a central controller can use it to advantage.
