Abstract
An approximate likelihood ratio is derived for detecting a signal in linear stationary and quadratic Gaussian noise. The novel aspect is the inclusion of the quadratic noise. Such a problem can arise in radar when secondary as well as primary reflection by clutter takes place. Monte Carlo simulation using simple examples is run to illustrate the effects of the nonlinear processors on detection performance
