Abstract :
A track termination algorithm that is compatible with the approach used in an automatic digital multisignal tracker for determination of track status has been devised. For each processing frame, the algorithm recursively calculates a statistic Mk, the minimum log-likelihood ratio sum, and a quantity Fk, which gives the frame of the first term of the minimum sum. If Mk first goes below the termination threshold at frame t, then Ft is the estimate of the first frame of noise alone. The algorithm has been tested by simulation and by experiment using towed-hydrophone test data
