Abstract :
Summary form only given. Disk platters are known to vibrate at their natural frequencies due to airflow excitation. As the rotation speed of spindle motors continues to increase, the vibrations become more significant and contributes to TMR which reduces TPI. In this paper, an experimental approach is suggested to predict the resonant frequencies and vibration amplitudes as r.p.m. increases. This approach avoids solving difficult equations and is used for as an insight into NRRO and RRO issues.
