Abstract :
A control scheme for fuel cell (FC) generation system is proposed in this paper to increase the transient stability and damping performance of micro-grids. With aids of ultracapacitors (UC) and the fast adjustment of power electronic conditioning systems, FC generation system can bring many benefits to distribution systems. In this paper, we will focus on the transient stability enhancement and dynamic performance improvement of micro-grids in which multiple synchronous generators and other distributed generators are installed. Power modulation technique is used to control the FC generator and improve the stability and power swing damping of the micro-grids. Coordinate between FC and UC is designed to control their power outputs taking into account the stability requirement of micro-grids and characteristics of both FC and UC.
