Abstract
Coupling between two capacitors via their electric fields is described in a similar manner as for the case of mutual inductance. A circuit level definition is described that has its origins in field theory. The definition is self consistent, and can be used to predict circuit behaviour as well as design tool for designing structures for a given capacitive coupling. Experimental results are given and a planar inductor is designed with a very small inter winding capacitance in order to demonstrate the theory.
