Abstract
A new kind of eight elements planar array is designed for wireless communication system in this paper; equivalent circuit of the antenna is given to facilitate the design process; antenna and its feeding line are etched on top and bottom of a substrate with epsivr=2.65. Simulated results exhibit good performance of return loss and un-roundness of horizontal plane radiation pattern. The antenna can operate on 6.2 GHz-10.4 GHz; it is characterized with low profile, compact structure and can be used in UMTS or indoor base station system, and also in some small missile system for its special structure and pattern. The simple structure of this antenna is based on the conventional small loop antenna.
