Abstract :
Summary form only given. The authors have carried out a comprehensive study of the magnetic properties of (Pt/Co)/sub n//FeMn multilayer exchange bias systems with perpendicular anisotropy in order to obtain a deeper understanding of the phenomenon of exchange anisotropy via a comparison of in-plane and perpendicular-to-plane exchange bias. Exchange bias spin-valves or magnetic tunnel junctions with perpendicular magnetization can be prepared from these materials. These systems could be particularly useful for MRAM or planar sensors.
