Abstract :
In 1989, the Southern California Gas Company completed the installation of a 62-hop fully digital microwave backbone T1 network with one connecting fiber optic link. The ways in which the company determined that a private network was needed, designed and installed the network, selected vendors, and managed the overall effort are described. Some of the lessons learned from this project are discussed
