Abstract
In this paper, we present a novel procedure for the design of an M-ary QAM receiver operating over unknown slow flat-fading wireless channels, and yet are able to deliver very high performance. The channel state is estimated jointly with the signal detection process. Statistical properties of the wireless channel are exploited to formalize a new detection procedure. The algorithmic structure of the receiver is highly parallelized, which would benefit from high-speed VLSI implementation.
