Abstract :
Summary form only given. To reduce the flying height of the head/disk interface and improve the tribological performance of sliders, a number of researchers have suggested using textured sliders with very smooth disk surfaces. In a previous study, textured sliders were fabricated by ion beam etching and it was found that friction during constant speed drag testing was reduced as a consequence of the texture.
