Abstract
Next generations of wireless systems are designed for multimedia communication, with a wide range of data types and rates all sharing the same wireless infrastructure. In order to provide services with high capacity and desired quality of service, the system requires efficient resource allocation. In this paper we study the physical layer multiple path connections (MPC) scenario in a wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA) network. Under the limited radio resource, we investigate an opportunity-driven multiple connections scheme for resource sharing. The results obtained are encouraging. Even with a simple algorithm, capacity improvement is obtained from the proposed scheme.
