Abstract :
Ray tracing is the core technology that enables the physically correct simulation of light transport. Much progress has been made to increase the efficiency of the basic algorithm and it lends itself to simulations outside the domain of computer graphics. We explore current ray tracing technology to simulate wireless networks at interactive rates. Other than in classic computer graphics diffraction contributes important parts of the solution, but is difficult to capture. We present a ray tracing based algorithm that outperforms state of the art simulation technology by far, as verified by a real-world experiment.
