Abstract
In this paper the radar cross section (RCS) for different types of two-dimensional (2D) rough surfaces at different observation angles (0°-90°) has been calculated using electromagnetic simulator EMS. The random rough surface is represented using Gaussian correlation function, and generated by the spectral method. The influence of the root mean square (rms) height and the correlation length on electromagnetic scattering from a lossy rough surface is discussed and compared with perfect electrically conducting (PEC) flat surface. Then, the RCS results of a composite target modeling including a three-dimensional (3D) PEC target above a 2D lossy rough surface for different polarization modes are also given.
