Abstract
The IEEE 802.15.4 standard specifies the physical and medium access control layers for devices used to establish low-rate wireless personal area networks (LR-WPAN). Such devices are well suited for wireless sensor networks applications. The performance of IEEE 802.15.4 receivers has been thoroughly evaluated through simulation and experimentation. In this paper, we present a formal analysis of IEEE 802.15.4 noncoherent detectors in terms of the bit error probability. Specifically, we analyze the effects of jamming and fading on the communication performance. The analytical expressions are validated by a comparison with software simulation results.
