Abstract :
Viscous drag loss of oil-filled underwater BLDC motor need to be considered in the motor design. The calculation results of analytical formula do not really comply with experimental results. To obtain the accurate results, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is used for calculating air gap flow field. The computed loss is in good agreement with the experimental result.
