Abstract
In order to enhance decision making characteristics of product lifecycle management (PLM), the authors propose virtual intelligent space for engineering (VISE) VIS is established in PLM system as highly integrated application of recent CAD/CAM, human-computer, collaborative, product data management, Internet portal, and intelligent information processing techniques. Approach to the VISE by the authors is an analogue of the physical virtual space. In VISE, sensor signals from physical intelligent space are replaced by received change attempt or proposal about modeled objects and their environment. Processing of changes is done by intelligent behavior analysis. Adaptive action generators replace actuators. In this paper, background of VISE in industrial modeling is introduced. Following this, basic definition of a virtual engineering space is given and some relevant issues are discussed. Finally, application of behaviors as product design objectives for change management in the change affect zone (CAZ) is presented.
