Abstract
We propose an optical pseudo-random-bit-sequence generator using a dual-drive Mach-Zehnder modulator operating as a 2-input XOR gate. The output of the modulator is detected, amplified and fed back as the input to the two RF ports with suitable time delays, thereby forming an optical linear feedback shift register capable of generating an optical PRBS data stream.
