            Abstract :
A performance analysis of a hybrid circuit-switched transmission resource at a network node providing service to two traffic streams is presented. Type-1 messages gain access to the system if the node capacity is not saturated, otherwise they overflow to a buffer queue. Type-2 messages are assumed to enter directly into the buffer queue. The performance measure is the average number of messages in the buffer and is evaluated by means of exact and appropriate computational procedures. Comparative numerical results along with suggestions for further research are included
