Abstract

The software design and implementation of a packet switching node for a data communication network in China is discussed. Network management is emphasized. A scheme for centralized and localized network management is also briefly introduced. It is the first Chinese-made packet switch based on international standards, compatible and interoperable with similar Western products. The packet-switching node was connected to the data network in 1989. Operational results are discussed
