Abstract :
A unified framework for telecommunications switched traffic and transmission facility network design for survivability is presented. This design is considered for backbone nonhierarchical teletraffic networks with dynamic routing capabilities which use at most two traffic links for connecting a call. The facility network is considered to be sparse. The approach addresses the survivable design by considering both the traffic network and facility network explicitly in an integrated mathematical model/algorithm
