  • Abstract
    Future network should flexibly deal with unexpected network changes and operational complexity caused by the diversification of the network services. In this paper, we present a managed self-organizing network concept. In the managed self-organizing network, multiple virtual networks are accommodated on a single physical network, and they are controlled autonomically based on self-organization. The sharing of limited physical resources will inevitably cause resource contention among virtual networks, which deteriorates performance and network stability. We thus propose a management architecture for controllable and manageable self-organizing networks. We also developed skeleton implementation to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed architecture.
