Abstract :
A compact sandwiched structure polarization splitter is proposed. The birefringence of the sandwiched waveguide introduces large beat length difference for TE and TM polarizations. The splitter demonstrated good polarization extinction ratio (~13 dB) and low excess loss (< 0.3 dB).
