Abstract :
Summary form only given. This paper investigates the achievement of an optimal exchange coupling when breaking the vacuum between the seed/NiFe pinned layer and a CrMnPt pinning layer deposition. The key is to find optimal etching conditions in order to induce a maximum coupling. All layers were deposited by RF magnetron sputtering in a static magnetic field. To determine the magnitude of the exchange bias and the coercivity, the completed test sandwich was measured with a vibrating sample magnetometer.
